I haven’t covered it in a really long time, other than a sarcastic post a couple months ago, and I don’t think I ever really got in depth on it. A lot of people from OK are part Native American, even if it’s not documented. Personally I think it’s connected to our culture because it’s such a big part of Midwestern history that we don’t often forget it. Concerning cultures that are still alive today, they’re not destroyed by people taking pieces of them, there’s still a lot of other practices and meanings to them that won’t ever be taken away unless the culture is destroyed through war or some kind of tragedy. America is the epitome of cultural appropriation though and the majority of those that speak against it are probably appropriating many things without knowing it.
